Betting on Database Virtualization

I just returned from the annual IBM Information On Demand conference in Las Vegas where I was able to catch up with a number of our partners and customers - i.e. I was not spending time in the casinos! In my meetings with the top two hypervisor vendors, I was told that more and more customers are migrating their databases to virtual machines. This move is one that I and other virtualization watchers have expected as the inevitable act two, following the very successful initial value proposition of system consolidation. GRIDSCALE ON Demand

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking with Derrick Harris, Editor of On-Demand Enterprise (formerly GRIDToday). We discussed where database virtualization technologies like GRIDSCALE fit into the overall virtualization landscape. We also touched on some important topics such as the impact of continuous availability for SQL Server applications, our partnerships with IBM and Microsoft, and the need for technologies like GRIDSCALE to make cloud computing applications scale.
